Short pest overview:

Thorax of this pest is white or grey, hairy with six blueish-black spots; abdomen is relatively long. The wings are white, and are sprinkled with small metallic-blue spots; female wingspan 60-70 mm, male wingspan 50-55 mm.


Geographic Distribution:

Zeuzera pyrina has been introduced to Europe, Caucasus, Asia and North America.


Life Cycle:

Adults do not feed and have short lifespans, appearing in the middle of June. Females mate soon after emergence and under optimum conditions can lay several hundred eggs, till middle of August, most eggs being laid in the second half of July.
